From Joomla 2.5.8 forward, you might encounter a database problem which refers to the Assets Table when browsing some of the JomSocial pages.

Note: This is NOT a JomSocial-specific error as it does not use that table at all. It is very likely you will experience this error with other components too

Joomla has already acknowledged and addressed this issue in an article covering the fix for it.
Also, Joomla Forums has an answer for the issue.
